Walter Russell Punko

of Brookfield. Passed away peacefully March 1, 2010, age 90 years. Born on September 5, 1919 in Milwaukee. Beloved husband of Betty Ann Roberts-Punko. Dear brother of Victor and Emil Punko. Loving father of Thomas (Pat) Punko and James (Tina Berns) Punko. Father-in-law of Jane Punko. Grandfather of Lisa (Dale) Prout, Jeff (Lori) Punko, Josh Punko, Cory (Nicole) Punko and Nikki (Brian) Treuber. Great-grandfather of Alicia and Jacob Prout, Jonny and Ryan Punko, Dakota, Camren and Casey Punko and Kayla Treuber. Step-father of James (Julie) Roberts, Kevin (Anne) Roberts and Timothy (Caroline) Roberts. Step-grandfather of Phillip (Casey) Roberts and Jamie Roberts, and Sam Davis. Step-great-grandfather of Phillip Carl Roberts, II. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jeanette, son Dennis, and sisters Jen Dolhun and Emily Priegel.

Wally was a top notch bowler and felt bowling was his avocation. He rolled a sanctioned 300 Game and was elected to the Milwaukee Hall of Fame, as well as the Wisconsin State Hall of Fame. He was a graduate of South Division High School and a member of their Old Timers Club, where he headed their scholarship fund. His efforts placed him on the school's "WALL OF FAME" for his accomplishments. He and Betty Ann were honored for awarding, each year, the Walter R. and Betty Ann Punko $2, 000 Scholarship Award. He attended Ripon College on both academic and football scholarships. He was a #1 fan of the Green Bay Packers. Wally was a member of Gethsemane Ev. Lutheran Church in Brookfield since 1954.
